Comments

Whoo, it looks like I didn't do too well on sticking to my word... so I'll leave this post as a simple weight update with responses to comments! A new post that's in the works will have more interesting things to look at. (:

Current weight: 138.0lbs / 62.6kg

I managed to lose 2.2lbs / 1kg in a single day. That was really impressive. I don't know why it happened that way. I had one box of raisins in the morning (40 calories) and a Subway kid's meal sized (3'') ham sandwich (135 calories) on that day. Later I went back up to almost 140.0lbs because I felt like I "deserved a reward" for finally getting solidly below 140lbs.

That's a mindset that I really need to learn to walk away from. Yes, I have lost weight, so I need to reward myself in ways that don't ruin what I'm awarding myself for! Buy some new pants, go out and see a movie, get a new video game... but
DO NOT EAT. Thankfully I squeaked my way all the way back down to 138.0, but it looks like hitting 130.0 by Halloween isn't going to happen. I'll be happy if I'm anywhere in my 130s!

P: Thanks a lot for your support! I have some good news for you about MSG: from what I know, it's all bologna. I have a friend who works as a researcher at UCLA (microbiology) and she has told me time and time again that there's no science behind it. It's basically a complex sodium (salt) molecule that's a little harder for your body to break down. Like anything, too much of it isn't great for you... but it's not going to kill you or cause cancer. All things in moderation - and with Ana on your side, that should be easy to accomplish! I'm glad to hear that you're thinking about yourself again. With a little time you'll want to look in the mirror again. I know how it feels to be ashamed of what you've become. You can reach your dreams! Don't give up!

Zoe: It's too bad I hate almonds and soy, lol! I can't stand tofu either. I'd make a terrible vegetarian. Egg whites are an excellent idea! I've been deathly afraid of eggs since I started losing weight. I'm sure you can hit your goal in a few months if you really stick to it. I have some calculations that I'm going to post later, but it's safe to say that it's entirely feesible to lose 20lbs easily in one month without any exercise if you stick a super low-intake diet. As you can see, I have done (at the most) an hour of yoga every other week. All the weight loss I've had so far is purely from controlling my diet. (:

A: I wasn't aware any of the vitamins were gender-specific? If you see something I missed, point it out to me! But the last time I checked everything I've listed is safe for men and women. (Unless you were making fun of the diet drug that causes sterility in men... then disregard my freak out.)

Viv: I agree with you! A big part of the reason why I made this site was because I got frustrated with all the blogs I came across that had been abandoned. Unfortunately, I can't relate with your bra woes. ): If you're really worried about it, remember that there are super push up padded bras out there. I'm sure they would more than make up for what you lose... and no one would know your secret since you were well-endowed before you lost the weight! I've noticed the most weight loss from my upper arms, hips and thighs.

Thinspo, Vitamins

I'm still around! I just had a lot of work to take care of. I'm happy to see that I have a few comments waiting for me. [:

Current weight: 140.0lbs / 63.5kg

I did an experiment over the past couple of days. For a while I have wondered, "What do I do once I reach my goal weight? How do I maintain it? Do I go back to eating?" For three days I ate what a normal person would eat: three decent meals and some snacks. (For example, 1 bowl of cereal, orange juice, and toast... 6'' Subway Sandwich and chips... 1 can of soup with salad and bread roll... 1 muffin for dessert... some apples to snack on along the way.) I went from 143 to 148 after eating "normally" for just three days! I don't want to know what would happen if I ate how I used to eat (fast food all the time.) Thankfully I was able to knock out those 5lbs (2.3 kg) just as quickly with a salt water flush and juice fast. Today I've had nothing to eat and I don't feel hungry yet. I think that reality check will keep me on track for a long time.

I really sat down and thought about everything that had gone on. It psyched me out fairly well. Is it worth it to have that one sandwich and deal with the stress, regret, weight gain, and struggle of losing it again? No way. Do I really want that strawberry soda instead of a cup of water? Do I want that extra 150 calories lingering in the back of my mind all day? No way. No food is not worth it. "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." It's true! Sushi is my weakness and I don't even care about that right now. I'm also in love with Burrito Supremes from Taco Bell (520 calories!) but I'd rather starve for three days than eat one.

I'm actually starting to like what I see in the mirror. I have to wear belts and I've completely shrunk out of 25% of my clothing. I want to hit that magical 120lbs (54.4 kg) before I treat myself to shopping for new ones. It's nice to have a pile in my closet that are too big for me!

cutelittlefangs: The mythical page counter is at the very bottom, haha. Right now it's just over 2,000! Wow. I'm really impressed. [:

P: I've got your MSN and I'll add you to mine! No worries, I won't make the comment with your information a public one. Thank you for all the help with the vitamin information. I'm going to add it to this post! Trust me when I say that I have felt a big boost in confidence since I changed my eating habits. I feel good when I see myself in the mirror. I look taller. I'm starting to notice that I get more attention. I can't wait to go shopping! I used to hate it because nothing fit right and realizing what size I was made me feel disgusting. Now that I know I've lost some weight I'm actually excited to try on clothes.

The following vitamins were recommended by "P" so I can't take credit for finding them! I have, however, done some research on all of them so that I can provide my own summary of what they do.

CLA (conjugated linoleic acid): 3.4g per day. Wow! This stuff has been proven to burn weight and discourage the growth of tumors. It is naturally found in the highest quantities in beef. I'm glad I'm a meat eater! For you vegetarians out there, eggs also contain a good portion of this acid. If you're vegan, aim for portobello mushrooms. They contain a small amount but the fact that there's any is amazing. It's not found in any other fruit or vegegtable.

Alcar (acetylcarnitine): 250mg per day. Be careful not to overdo it for this one because it's known for causing stomach upset... not that many of us would mind throwing up. It protects the heart and helps regulate the central nervous system. This is used to treat things like Parkinson's Disease!

Xantrax and Blackmore's Weight Loss Accelerate were also suggested, but I don't advocate "weight loss" pills. Some people are probably laughing at me because most "weight loss" pills are just multivitamins with amped up dosages of ingredients that I've already listed. A more specific reason why I won't suggest any specific "weight loss" pill is because I don't want to endorse one brand over the other. In the case of these two, the active ingredient in both is hydroxycitric acid. It's a type of citric acid that's found naturally in a few plants. It increases your metabolism, but studies show that it's bad for men or pregnant women. It produces excess lipids and prevents your body from absorbing carbohydrates properly.

While I'm at it, I feel that I should mention this: I hope anyone who is pregnant has enough common sense not to worry about their weight. If you are pregnant and thinking about restricting your diet - knock that shit off. You have someone else to worry about for now. There is another life that totally depends on you. Eat on their behalf. In nine months you can starve for two weeks and lose all the weight. "P" is a smart lady. She was a good mom and now she's worrying about herself. Your child should always come first. [:

Thinspo with a water theme! It's raining where I am and that's very rare. There was even thunder and lightening last night. O:

Thinspo

The number keeps going down. [:

Current weight: 144.0lbs / 65.3kg

I had ten wheat thins (about 90 calories) today and I feel light headed. Other than that it was just water. I think I need to try and use my calories on things that are more filling. Those crackers were delicious but not filling at all and they made me thirsty since they're so salty. I feel really tired.

I passed 1,000 page views three or four days ago. That's pretty cool. Thanks to everyone who reads and comments! Please leave me more feedback. If there's something you want to see or if you have questions let me know and I'll address them.

Thinspo! Theme? Models... which I try to stay away from because no one seems to like thinspo involving people who are all dolled up and photoshopped. [;

Thinspo

I post from work a lot. I guess this place has a lot of down time. That number is still going down and I'm excited. I finally hit the 135lb mark and have now officially gone below it. Now I'm looking forward to 130lbs. I'm almost there. I bet I can hit it by this upcoming weekend. [:

Current weight: 149.8lbs / 67.9kg

Wasted almost all of my calories on a single bag of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies (280 calories.) Has about six Oreo-sized cookies. They were totally worth it. I'm feeling the sugar rush and actually looking forward to working until 11:00pm tonight.

I think we need some thinspo. Theme this time is "real girls." I run into that a lot when I'm looking for thinspo myself... so I figured I'd put up a few. [:

Moon Cakes

I tried to post from my phone earlier and that didn't work out too well. :/ Everything came out as scrambled characters and it posted three times for some reason. Those alien posts are all deleted now!

They were celebrating some Asian holiday at my work, and in order not to seem rude and give them "bad luck" I had a few small unidentifiable candy and pastry items. Nothing took more than one bite to eat and I had only three things. I figured I'd mentally write that off as my 100 food calories for the day and carry on. Wrong.

I discovered later via my cell phone that one of them was a "moon cake," or lotus paste bread with egg yolk. One two inch cake is 970 calories and 48g of fat. I wanted to leave right then and there and sprint all the way home to start burning it off. I contemplated excusing myself to the bathroom and forcing it out, but I've never resorted to purging before and I didn't want to start.

Here's an example of what's in the nutritional information box for a typical moon cake:

Per Half Cake, 1'', (Yolk Filling):

Calories: 470

Fat: 23g

Saturated Fat: 5g

Cholesterol: 126mg

Sodium: 88mg

Total Carbohydrates: 48g

Dietary Fiber: 2g

Sugars: 33g

Protein: 5g

Current weight: 152.2lbs / 69.0kg

Once again my lowest and current are the same. [: I screwed up today (read above) but it hasn't hurt me... yet. I've been walking a few miles each day and drinking lots of water. My energy levels are up and I still sleep less.

Eff you, moon cakes, and the horse you rode in on. Yes, moon cakes are capable of mounting cavalry. ]:

Vitamins That Increase Metabolism

A super quick update! I'm so happy that things are going as planned so I wanted to share. That number went down again.

Current weight: 154.4lbs / 70.1kg

That's how it should stay. I feel great. I've been eating Special K and drinking tons of water. The usual...
1/3 cup Special K with Blueberries (35 calories) with 1/4 cup of skim milk (25 calories.) Yesterday I had a few pieces of sushi as well. (46 calories each for a slice of California Roll, I had two pieces so that's 92 calories.) I hope I can get near my short term goal by Halloween!

I was looking at a food pyramid today. I never realized how much crap is in there. Maybe it just seems like a ton in retrospect because I'm eating so much now.

That's an amazing amount of food. That's probably more than I eat in a week. ]:

I read up about vitamins. It seems like B and C are the ones that help boost your metabolism the most. C also helps your immune system and gives you energy. Green tea and ginseng also help out because they're metabolism boosters and appetite suppressants. These are the suggested doses. If you can find a multivitamin that has all of these and more, go for it!

Vitamin C: 100mg per day.
Vitamin B: This one is tricky because you need to find a pill that covers all the B vitamins, and not just B-12 (cobalamin) or B-2 (riboflavin.) The dosage for each one is different, but as long as it's a general vitamin B supplement it should be fine.
Ginseng: 200mg per day.
Green Tea Extract: 300mg per day. The article is pretty interesting. Apparently green tea also acts as a natural inhibitor for most cancers. Neat! Of course, drinking a cup or two a day is also satisfactory if you're not the pill-taking type. Most brews are under 5 calories. [:
